Anonymous said: Hey ! Just read your article about Bofur's and Bombur's ages and something you said called out to me. You said: "He (Bofur) has that older brother way about him that it seems like he’s always watching after Bombur." Do you think so ? Actually, I think quite the opposite. I love this family of dwarves, and therefore was quite sad when I couldn't find anything that would show me that Bofur would care for/watch out for Bombur (he's already an adult, I know, but still!). What did you make think so?
Maybe in the books it’s the other way around, but in the film Bofur seems to have that older brother air about him. Telling Bombur he’s had enough food at the camp scene instantly springs to mind. Bombur’s a quiet character in the film, so it’s hard to truly gage his and Bofur’s relationship. I don’t think Bofur takes full care of his brother (after all, Bombur’s one of only two dwarves in the entire company who’s married), but I definitely think Bofur keeps an eye on him. A lot of that is head canon, of course, but Stephen Hunter himself confirmed that Bofur’s the older sibling.
